Technology - City's heading for wall-to-wall wireless access

Aiming to make wireless Internet accessible citywide, the Sacramento City Council on Tuesday approved a plan that could blanket downtown and midtown with Wi-Fi coverage by early next year - and the entire capital within two years.

In a unanimous vote, council members authorized city staff workers to negotiate with MobilePro Inc., a Maryland-based company, to install a Wi-Fi network throughout the city that will provide residents and visitors alike with wireless access for their computers."
